Short-term mission. Good idea or not? Many Christians have an opinion, but if you are mulling over the pro's and con's you might consider reading the Global Interaction article "Short-term Mission: would you like fries with that" written by Glenn Jessop (reproduced with permission).

OM Short Term Mission Teams
Operation Mobilisation (OM) has a number of short term team opportunities that you might want to check...
They include:
Destiny Rescue Team Trips
Destiny Rescue is a Christian organisation that rescues children directly from brothels; protects vulnerable children through prostitution prevention programs and provides schooling, vocational training, medical help, counselling and all daily needs to those children who cannot be returned to a 'healthy' family.
Destiny Rescue invites you to visit their prevention and rehabilitation work with children in the 'harvest' fields of Cambodia and Northern Thailand. Experience these nations from a different perspective to tourists. Encounter these people through the eyes of our Heavenly Father. Look beyond the wasteland of brokeness and darkness and see Heaven's Hope.... Know His presence.... see His freedom.... hear His joy.... celebrate His healing and be His love. For more information, phone Phil on 0428 111 358 or check the Destiny Rescue website at http://www.destinyrescue.org

SIM Australia: Short-term Teams making a difference!
Experience real mission in action, Enjoy the synergy of team work, Encourage our missionary team, Explore cross-cultural ministry, Contribute significantly to missions.
Serving in another culture is a lifechanging experience and will allow you to make a difference in peoples lives as you share your life and your faith. Team ministry will change the way you see God, yourself and the world.
SIM will facilitate a team from your church or Bible College into cross-cultural ministry in Africa, Asia or South America. We will provide strategic support as the team prepares and while they are on the field. We will debrief the team when they return. With ministry directors in most states, this can be done on a local level.
These placements have been designed so that your team will go to an established ministry where they can contribute significantly to the mission team and/or the local church. Contact the SIM representative in your state http://www.sim.org.au/contact.shtml or you can connect with SIM Short-termer on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/SIM-Short-termer/7141634276
Open Doors STM trips
Travel with Open Doors... When Open Doors Founder Brother Andrew first went to visit persecuted Christians behind the Iron Curtain, he was struck by something a pastor said to him, "We want to thank you for being here. Even if you had not said a word, just seeing you would have meant so much. We feel at times as if we are all alone in the struggle." Ever since then, Open Doors has been seeking to partner with persecuted Christians by being alongside them. The aim of our trips is to encourage, pray with, equip and strengthen persecuted believers. You will be an encouragement to those you meet, and you too will be blessed in more ways than you can imagine.
Do you want to meet and support persecuted Christians? Are you ready for an adventure that will change your life? Is God calling you to strengthen and encourage others? Then travelling with Open Doors might be just for you! For more information, contact Open Doors on 02 9451 2999 or visit http://www.opendoors.org.au/go/
